Reggie Murray is the wind voice and self-assigned tech-head for Sci Five. He likes to fiddle with stuff: computers, ethnic instruments, home improvement items, even Legos on occasion, but not fiddles in particular. He plays tenor, soprano and alto saxes, flute, and EWI. Composition is an integral part of Reggie's musical interests, and Sci Five is a great outlet for his more fusion-oriented writing. In addition to jazz and jazz-related music, he is into ambient electronica, downtempo and world music, as well as a variety of other eclectic musical styles. You can find out more about him at www.reggiemurray.com. |

Mark Mehaffey is the guitarist and a major component of the Sci Five sound. Much of his earlier musical life was spent in art rock bands, with a lot of influence from artists like Alan Holdsworth, Steve Morse, Yes and Rush. Mark has always had a love for jazz and fusion, and this comes through in his compositions, many of which tend to be intricate musical stories that take the listener on a journey - not necessarily a magic carpet ride, but a journey nonetheless. Mark has also composed music for several documentaries about Louisiana and the New Orleans region. He is also great at impressions - let him crank call you sometime and you'll find out. |

David McKay is the keyboardist for Sci Five. He has written numerous compositions for television, radio and film, and some of his works have been performed by major ensembles such as the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. David also has a diverse background in education and worship music, and he is currently active in various music ministries around the Nashville area in addition to being an instructor at Belmont University. He also has a number of album credits to his name, including Global Settings by contemporary jazz group Quad Venti. Like Reggie, he is a techie and an Apple fan, and he is currently working with Apple retailer Roberts Creative Systems in Franklin, TN. You can find out more about David at www.davidmckaymusic.com. And if all that isn't enough, David is the first ever recipient of the Sci Five Lifetime Overachievment Award. |

Doug Waguespack is the bassist and one of the primary composers for Sci Five. His last name basically means "spoke of the wagon wheel" - just thought we'd mention that for some reason. In addition to being a top-notch musician and composer, he is also an excellent piano technician. You'll regularly find him tweaking the ivories at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Before Nashville and Sci Five, Doug, Mark and Reggie all played in a fusion group in New Orleans called Rhino with keyboardist/composer Mike Rihner. Doug has also performed with many great New Orleans local artists like Kim Carson and Acoustic Swiftness. He is big into funk and fusion music - Tower of Power and Jaco Pastorius are a couple of his favorites. Unlike Reggie, Doug does not like the sweet drinks. |

Matt Sciaretta is the drummer for Sci Five, and he brings a nice touch and a solid foundation to the group's sound. Matt is into automobiles - he has a Volkswagen van that he likes to work on from time to time. He is also into cooking and web development among other things - that's right, another techie - whachagondoboutit. You can find out more about Matt and some of his favorite things on his website www.sciaretta.com. Matt also plays the Zendrum, but he doesn't dress up in a Star Trek outfit like Roy Wooten (aka Futureman), which is a shame because it would really fit the whole "Sci Five" thing. Matt regularly plays with the Ben Graves trio at Sambuca, as well as with a number of other Nashville artists. |
